Hello, I?m trying to fix an hp vectra vl400 MT for someone and it won?t boot at all. I am using my post card with an always stays on the post code 00. Any idea what that might mean and why? I cant find any info on that particular code for hp systems.

Btw I have tried removing all excess components reseating video card, replacing video card with others, replacing ram, changing psu out, reset bios, reinstalled cpu. It Still won?t post though. Maybe its a dead motherboard? the Cpu still seems to be producing heat when its on.

i think i figured it out this is a know problem with the motherboards in those systems because the capacitors go bad. Even though the ones in this one dont seem to be leaking they do seem to be bulging out a bit at the top of them.

That may very well be the case, but there is a chance that there is another issue causing your problem. Just because the caps are bad does not absolutely mean the board is non-operational. I have seen boards operate with bad caps for months w/o dying.

could be posible i dont realy trust the bios on that board eather as it the setings were incorect for the hardware that was installed in the first place the first time i fixed it lol. But still it has to be with the motherboard no mater what because i have swaped everything else out with known good parts. Neather the onboard video or the card that came with the system and cards i tryed got any response out of it and i never got any post codes other then 00 showing up.
