HP photosmart software sucks

So I go in to scan a page, and it automatically splits it into a bunch of pictures. Not one unified piece, but where there are grids and boxes it cuts those out. What I am scanning is a release document for a film, so I need it formatted exactly as it was back into a pdf. Is there any other software I can get that won't chop up my documents so I have to piece them back together? Is there a way to stop the current software from doing this? I would really appreciate the help. Thank you.

Are you talking about the HP Solution Center software? Are you just trying to copy the document into pdf?

I've never had an issue with the software splitting a page.

When I scan a document it automatically launches "HP Photosmart Essentials", which has absolutely no settings for how you want it scanned in, just "Hey, here's your scan... in about 1,000,000 pieces we think might be pictures... so we conveniently cut them up for you :]) lol. I actually ended up taking digital photos of this, but I would like to figure out how to scan stuff in properly...

I called in to tech support yesterday and my printer was out of warranty. They wanted to charge me for service, but the woman didn't even understand the english language well enough to decipher that it was a problem with the software on the computer, and not the drivers or the printer hardware [standard hp software for ALL HP printers mind you Indian lady]. It's kinda funny how they can just magically make money off releasing an "upgrade" to their software that doesn't work like it should... Business practices are going down the crapper these days.

I've had a completely different experience. My HP Scanner is a 2400 which has been discontinued for years. HP continues to provide new scanning software, the latest was from last year(HP Solution Center).

I have Photosmart Essentials but don't use it. You should be able to download the HP Solution Center and use that as your scanner app.

Here's another approach. Don't use the Photosmart software. Download and install the TWAIN driver for your scanner, and then use Irfanview's ACQUIRE function. The TWAIN driver should give you total control including SAVE AS a PDF file. This is now how I use my venerable Epson 2450 scanner.

I got it fixed by installing the "HP Solution Center" software. I must have mixed the two up. Thought the one I needed was bloat, and the one I didn't was not. :) Thanks for the help guys.
