Listed at BuyDig.com for $112 and it's new not refurb. Not sure of the shipping costs. Best price elsewhere is around $400. I've had this scanner for a few years now and it's great for slides and negatives. The only downside is that dust finds its way into the scanner so every so often you need to just pop it open and blow some compressed air through it.

Here's HP's product page and a very detailed review and another.

Now, this place has a mixed reputation. I had no problems over a year ago ordering a U.S. warranteed Sony camcorder but they did call me and try to sell me on a bunch of overpriced accessories. I politely refused and the order went through.

That's the best price I've seen for those... Nice all-in-one scanner. Have to spend $300 to beat its features... :D

Yeah, the negatives or slides need to be developed by the photo store. It's maximum resolution (negs and slides) is 2400 dpi which can result in files up to 23 MB in size. It can also scan prints up to 5x7 (I think) but only at 300 dpi. You'd be better off with a regular flatbed for prints.

Tempting! and the reviews look good. But I see it at Amazon.com for $149 w/ free shipping. If I use the $30 off for first time use of Amazon Visa card, I can get for $119 shipped. Might be a more trustworthy source. The reviews on Amazon are also pretty favorable for this scanner by the way.

I've found that it is better at scanning negatives than slides. A scan of a full 35mm negative will be about 3300x2300 when using the highest (2400 dpi) setting.

Costco has a couple slide scanners from PrimeFilm for $180 and $140. Text My dad just bought the $140 one a month ago but I haven't had a chance to try it yet.

At this price I'm tempted. It doesn't have the ability to scan APS or an add-on availble to scan APS, otherwise I'd jump on it right away. Might check out the Minolta Dual III. That way I can add on APS ability later. -TAL :)

These are nice for web work. A friend has one, and I'm not able to get a good enough scan for a show quality 8x10. Blown out highlights/shadows, not really sharp, etc. Snapshot prints come out fine, but keep that in mind if you're looking for high quality prints.

I keep going back to my old Acer ScanWit 2720. Of course, the ScanWit goes for $250 used... $300+ new if you can find one.

I think it's very nice. I own one myself (purchased through Amazon.com so I could use my employee discount and next day service).

Reviews everywhere say you'll need a scanner like this one to scan negatives or slides. Add-ons for flatbed scanners are just a waste of money.

I may have found a better price though and maybe at a better dealer @ Overstock.com

Hewlett Packard PhotoSmart S20xi Photo Scanner - $100 + S&H. When I calculated for KY, it said $2.95 for FedEx/UPS delivery!

The only thing I wished was different was that it was a little faster...but all in all, 550+ slides scanned so far and still going strong. :D

The shipping at Dartek (for me) would be around $12 for ground; Overstock is more reasonable and I (somewhat) trust them since I've used them in the past. You may even be able to pick it up at Overstock and then, within five days of purchase, price match it to Dartek.

I just got a Minolta Dimage Scan Speed scanner from Norman Camera for $150 -- 2820 DPI 36-bit, works with 35mm, slides, and APS (with optional adapter), compatible with Windows (95, 98, NT, 2000, XP) and Mac. Also comes with an Adaptec SCSI card and an old version of Photoshop LE.
