HP Photosmart 7510 - is it ready to print when turned on?

The title may seem a bit strange, but let me explain:

My good old Canon Pixma IP 5200 has just thrown in the towel. The only thing about it that I wasn't happy with was the initialisation time when I turned it on after it had been off for a few days.

I don't really print a lot, just a few times a week maybe. And every time I turned the printer on it would grind for a minute or two, e.g. clean the print head or something.

It got really annoying to have to wait for 1-2 minutes every time, so now I'm looking for a printer that's ready within seconds after being turned on.

I was considering an HP Photosmart 7510. Anyone know if that has a short startup-time?
It would be great to have CD-printing also. Is there an alternative to 7510 but with CD-printing?

Thanks.

Printers have active sleep modes, to use less power, but be ready to use. Today's printers are embedded computer systems, with almost as much complexity as your typical smartphone.

If you absolutely must turn it on and off, then be prepared to wait, regardless of model. Some may boot quicker than others, but they're all going to have a significant bootup time. IME, around 30 seconds is typical, but MFCs can take longer.

Ok, I see things have changed then in the 8 or so years since I bought a printer. ;) My IP 5200 has only on/off. No sleep mode.

Do you have any recommendation? All-rounder preferably with CD-printing, but not a necessity. Price does not really matter, as long as per sheet costs are not sky high.

Yes, worlds different. On the plus side, you can B&W duplexing wifi-enabled network lasers for $100 or less, and similar consumer low-end AIOs for <$200.

No Earthly idea, with CD printing involved, though. Without that, I've been impressed with Brothers, over the last few years.
