I have the above HP. I used to have linux installed on my comp also, and then i just deleted the linux partition and it messed up my mbe. So i tried to restore it from the win xp setup disk. That didn't work. So i got into windows safe mode and ran the windows restore, which surprisingly worked...kind of. My comp could boot normally into windows, but it had all these crazy errors. That's when i realized that my battery wasn't keeping the charge. It would charge to 100%, but as soon as i unplug it from the outlet, it loses charge and goes back to 0% immediately. So i decided to format the comp. Reinstalled win xp sp2 on it, but that didn't fix anything. Battery still stays at 0%, but later it jumps to 100% (without showing any intermediate charging), and still goes right back to 0 the second i unplug it. I tried using the HP Utility program to run the battery optimizer, and it says that there are no recognized batteries plugged in, which is probably where the problem lies. How do i get my computer to recognize the battery? (Even though in the device manager does list " microsoft ac adapter" and " microsoft acpi-compliant control method battery" under the Batteries section) Please HELP@!#!#!#!!
