I've been asked to examine a computer that is being donated to the church my parents attend. It apparently began its life as an HP Pavillion. The motherboard died so the man that had it took it to a local shop and they replaced the motherboard and put it all in a new case.
I do not know if they just reconnected the boot drive from the HP motherboard to the new one or reinstalled the OS.
I have the HP restore CD set that came with the original HP computer. I want to know if it is possible to completely wipe the HDD and "restore" the OS(WinMe) to the drive? I have never had to deal with one of these system restore CDs myself so I'm not sure how to proceed. My fear is that part of the restore process was built into the bios of the HP motherboard and the new one won't allow the restore to proceed.
Thanks for any suggestions,
BGC
