HP Pavillion freezing issues

Hey Guys,
I have a HP Pavillion media center notebook, model DV6406NR. I have owned the laptop
for a little more than year. This thing is having mad issues, freezes when left idle for like 20-30 minutes, battery power is only 1 hour now, and DVD-RW drive burns tons of blanks. Has anyone faced the same issues with the HP DV6000 series ? the drive has been replaced, and still is crap. Some people say that there is a driver out there that fixes the issue....but i doubt it. This thing freezes alot, i keep defrag and adware on every single day, to ensure it runs fine, and disk cleanup as well.
any ideas ? are there any diagnostics out there ?
 
do a system restore and see if there is still a problem. if so then its probably hardware related
