Does anyone here own (or dealt with) Pavilion dv7-something, Sandy Bridge line? In my case it's 6b90-ec (side question, does anyone have the slightest idea about naming conventions in HP?), Core i7 with some 6xxx Radeon chip I bought for my father in law.
The thing was fairly expensive, but seemed like a good buy considering the looks, CPU, amount of memory, and seemingly ok AMD GPU (the disk is shite but that can be replaced).
Well... not that good. For some weird ass reason the bloody piece of shit overheats like hell, and the fan spins up to very high if not max speeds almost right after you start doing something, and I mean anything. Just general office type of work makes it go zzzzZZZZZZZZZRRRRRRRRR!!!! Playing Youtube video makes me scared the thing will take off and fly away through solid wall (side question 2: why isn't there a general option to turn off hw acceleration in Flash player's control panel, damnit?)
Has anyone seen similar behaviour? Is the laptop bad (I don't think so), or is it just extremely shitty design?
