Hey guys,
First off, any help will be appreciated. This is my first time here

I have the HP Pavilion DV6500T notebook & since I no longer use my PC, I have a pair of Logitech Z5500 Speakers that I would love to use with this notebook.

From my minimum knowledge, I know that I can only connect the 2 front speakers to this laptop, and not the 2 back speakers and center speaker. Would this be possible in any way? I know that the Logitech Z5500 are compatible with a lot of hardware and the DV6500T is a very new notebook

creative makes a sound card that you can plug in to a laptop. you could use that with your speakers

Hmm.. what's the name of it? I was hoping to resolve to a way where I wouldn't have to buy anything but if I have no choice, I will

Thanks.

looking at the picture, it looks like it doesn't support the 3 holes for the logitech z5500. All 3 sockets need to be connected for 5.1 to work.

thanks for the help... when you say "it's an attachment you can use with the sound card", do you mean any sound card, or that I would have to purchase the creative sound card from the link you posted first?

IF a creative sound card is needed, I think it's possible to swap the realtek sound card that came with my HP laptop with the creative one without much difference in weight... however, the sound card adapter doesn't look like something that goes internally in a laptop... looks like it hangs out externally. Even if I was to buy it, that makes it very inconvenient

See if you can find an Audigy 2 NX external USB module. It has all the ports you need for 5.1/7.1 sound. I use it with my HP dv1000. Works great.

good lord. do you actually really read what i've linked? it plugs into the sound card that i linked you. first i linked the sound card, then you said 'All 3 sockets need to be connected for 5.1 to work" and then i linked you the accessory attachment (which was also on the same page as the first link). and then you say "Only works with the ExpressCard Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio Notebook sound card" well duh! that was the first thing i linked you!

honestly you seem pretty clueless about all of this. and about laptops. and obviously you couldnt search google on your own for 'laptop sound cards' either. of course its an external solution! thats your only option. something external. if its very inconvenient then get rid of your speakers. laptops are meant to be portable, not cater to people that want to hook up 5.1 sound systems to them

well, I did read the site but your statement "it's an attachment you an use with the sound card" didn't clarify which sound card and only confused me. Yes, the website said "only the creative soundcard" but often times, companies just say that to pitch you into giving them more money for different products they offer. So when you said that, I thought you might be telling me something different. Hopefully, you understand.

Anyways, that expensive solution wasn't what I was looking for clandren but thanks anyways. I'm not sure that you realized how much money that is. I really just wanted to know if I can make this work without spending any money, or minumum money. Yes, I don't know much about hardware. I wouldn't be here if I did. I already tried googling a rather complicated search to get relevant info for ("z5500 hp dv6500t").

I'll check out the prices for the Audigy NX corkyg and get back to you. Thanks!
