HP Pavilion DV4-1444DX laptop "won't power on"

Hi All, this is my first post. Hoping I can get some input from some members. 🙂 Hoping this is the right forum.

HP Pavilion DV4-1444DX laptop "wont power on".

When plugged in and battery is not inserted, pressing the power button does nothing.

When plugged in and battery is inserted, pressing the power button seem to power up the laptop for about 2 seconds and then goes off.

When not plugged in and battery is inserted, pressing the power button does nothing.

When plugged in, the "charging indicator" is flashing, but I don't think it's actually charging the battery.

Best Buy Geek Squad says it's the motherboard of the laptop.

The question becomes, did the battery shorted, power adapter went bad, or both? Is the motherboard of the laptop toast?

Many thanks in advance for any input. Have a nice weekend ahead.

Have you tried another power brick. A faulty power brick may not provide enough power to power on the laptop. My old Dv4 did something similar.

Thank you for your reply and suggestion. Finally got a hold of a universal adapter using a HP tip and it's alive. You were spot on. Cheers! Have a great week.
