my laptop went into the shop for lcd repair and when i got it back i formatted and reinstalled different a os along with formatting the recovery partition. Used hp website drivers and all drivers installed except for "PCI DEVICE" which is the sound card. When i try to install the AUDIO drivers an error saying "Driver Installation failed: Could not find media for this device". Any suggestions?

Find the chipset, and if it uses integrated audio (likely), find the chipset manufacturer's drivers.

I had the same problem with a Soyo motherboard that was missing the audio (PCI) driver - it worked for me.

Post the vendor and dev IDs.

Should be in Device Manager - "PCI Device" - go to Details tab, and then grab the Device Instance ID.

PCI\VEN_xxxx & DEV_xxxx

Post those.

Looks like you need a chipset driver. Did you have a problem with this laptop or reload/recover Windows? Or did it just pop up with an error one day.

If you are running XP you can get the driver from here:
