I am trying to install a Adaptec ASH-1233 ATA Adapter in a HP Pavilion 742n desktop. Because the secondary IDE controller on the mother board quit working some time ago. The hard drive is recognized by the IDE controller when booted but the system will not post beyond being recognized. I have also downloaded the mother board manual from Micro Star for the installed mother board a MS-6367. Then manual said all PCI slots are bus-mastering enabled, but the mother bard configuration looks sightly different from the installed mother board. Is this motherboard compatible with a IDE ATA adapter or another type of device to add additional ATA ports.
