A friend asked me to look at his computer listed above and like it says, when you turn on the computer it boots to vista and after logging on, it shuts down after a few minutes. I managed to access control panel and set the power settings to never on the monitor and sleep mode, but it still shuts down after a few minutes. I un-seated the cpu and cleaned the fan and still no luck. This thing doesn't run long enough for the cpu to even overheat.

any help is appreciated.

Without more information, that's impossible to remotely diagnose. First step, though, would be to try running it with another PSU, say from your computer, to see if the problem continues.

could be a bad PSU. Or something overheating. (CPU or GPU) Since it still manages to boot up each time sounds like a heat or psu problem.

I've seen a CPU overheat in <10 seconds (a P4 prescott) with its heatsink off, so it is possible this could be the CPU overheating.

I'd check the TIM joint

Also go into BIOS & check all settings
