My question is can I only use sd pc100 or does pc133 for notebooks also have the same pin count and would it be compatible with the lappy? Just wondering because the 256meg pc100 is hard to come by.
 
PC133 has the same pin count & same physical package: difference is the clock speed. I would say most PC133 SODIMM's will clock down to the supported PC100 of your machine, but your mobo may not like it. No guarantee on compatibility unless you the price premium for a selected memory module from someone like http://www.crucial.com
