HP or Dell Desktops?

My father refuses to wait for me to build a PC that I could have up and running in a week, but he'll wait a week for Dell to deliver. *Sigh *

So, can anybody steer me in either direction? Quality? Any other suggestions?

Seriously, I haven't a clue what is the best bang for the buck. And please give me your reasons.

would pick HP myself.

friend of mine was all set to pull the trigger on a Dell laptop, but I recommended that she give HP a shot. She ordered a better equipped HP for the same price as the Dell.

Both Dell and HP have great products for the price- I'd just go with whichever equally configured system is cheaper in the end.

Unless your dad does heavy gaming or media encoding/programming you can buy a basic system from Dell/HP (Monitor and OS included) cheaper than you can build one yourself.
