It's "dedicated" only in the sense that you can't turn it off. Radeon Xpress still uses system memory, which it dedicates to video use. There isn't a 128mb frame buffer that's separate from system memory.

Correct and I believe the OP meant to type "AR" (after rebate) instead of "FAR" (free after rebate).

This "dedicated" memory for the X200M is very confusing. Marketing has done a good job on this one.

I wonder how AMD compares to Core 2 notebooks in terms of speed/energy usage. The notebook does have a gig of ram which most notebooks for this price wont have.

If this had a 14.1" WXGA display instead I'd probably buy it.

Very hot deal.

Odeen,
Thanks for your input, please expand on why you think this is not ture dedicated memory.
Not to say your wrong.... but the dv5215us may very well have 128mb dedicated video memory seprate from the 1gb of system memory. From what I've read, the refrence design is spec'ed with 16mb and go up to 128mb video memory. An additional 128mb of system memory may be utilized as HyperMemory (128 dedicated + 128 system= 256). Again, not saying this is the case since the X200m can be integrated several ways. This is very confusing and hard to get the facts... check the video comparison here: 1 dedicated and 1 shared Regradless, the X200m has been one of the better integrated card and from what Ive read the only card capable of handling vista glass (feature in windows vista). Even if it shares system memory, thats not too bad since this notebook has 1gb.

I got the dv5210US model at Fry's this weekend for $599...only differences are HD size and 1gb vs 512 ram. Good laptop, my wife is using it for her work and no problems so far. The Turion chip is pretty nice for a mobile chip.
