I recently purchased a used HP nc6000. I want to wipe the HDD and reinstall XP Pro. Do I need some sort of system disc or what? I didn't get any software with the notebook.

see if you can dl the drivers from the hp website before you wipe the drive. then burn them to a cd. after that, you should be good to go
skunk, there's a bunch of software and drivers available on the HP website for this notebook. I have no idea what is needed and what isn't. Surely, I don't need to install all of this stuff.
Most likely there is hidden partition on the HD (unless the previous owner got rid of it), which contains the restore software. You usually have to press one of the F keys at startup to access it.
