HP nc6000 -- HDD dead!

The HDD in my laptop ( HP nc600 ) died.

I want to purchase a new HDD, but here's the tricky part:

What software, drivers, etc., will I need to install on the new HDD to get it going again? I want to run XP Pro. I don't have any discs that might have came with the laptop. However, I do have my XP disc.

Also, what kind of HDD should I purchase for it? And where's the best place?

get at least a 5400RPM drive, 80GB or more from Newegg shouldn't be that expensive. For drivers, I believe you can just download them from HP's site, but if not I can try to dig up my old NC8000 CD's if you have any problems. It should be about the same laptop as your NC6000. If you want to let it go or are interested in a trade for an Inspiron 9200...lmk

How much money do you want to spend on the HDD?

You can get the drivers from support.hp.com. Any other software you will have to install separately.

Do you or do you not have the Windows XP install discs from your LAPTOP? You can use the install discs from another computer, but it may not activate with Microsoft since it is installed elsewhere. You may be able to purchase the HP recovery/Window discs from eBay or HP directly.

I believe I just mentioned all that fbrdphreak.

Megamorph, if you need the driver recovery cd, lmk, and I'll GIVE you mine, don't worry about going to ebay or HP.
