ASUS 24" MK241H 1920x1200 3000:1 2ms full HD 1080p (black)(retail)

or

HP w2408h Black 24" 5ms Widescreen LCD Monitor w/ Height & Pivot Adjustments 400 cd/m2 1000:1

I'm planning to do alot of GAMING and watching Blu-ray movies, with the occasional photoshop rendering.

my current budget for a monitor is around $450-$700 but if the only way to get the best gaming monitor for the right price, i could reach my budget up to $1000

Thanks in advance!

Keep in mind you don't need to connect your monitor with HDMI to watch Blu-Ray. DVI will do just fine :)

Having an LCD with HDMI input is very handy for other devices, however!

I would suggest strongly that you read the sticky in the video cards & graphics forum describing the different LCD panel technologies. It links to lots of reviews and has reccomendations for different types of users. Lots of good info in there!

Personally, I love my Benq 24" It's fantastic!

thanks misfit, hey i recognize your name, I've seen you post on my other annoying threads dealing with my $4000+ gaming rig, which i shrank the budget to $3700, which the monitor is the high point in my budget. take a look, under the General Hardware section, in case you don't recall.
