HP Mini 5013 Weird problem booting up

Without ac plugged in, the laptop will power on but not POST.

Caps lock blink 3 times. Looked it up via hp site and it seems like its the memory issue.

I tried various sticks of memory ranging from 512/1gb/2gb. Different brands also. Wont post. But once I plug in the ac adapter it comes up right away. Even with the original stick of memory..

I almost threw the pc out but it seems post and work with AC power. Once booted, I can unplug the power and it'll run off battery fine.

Anyone seen an issue like this before ?
