HP LaserJet P1005 in TS

We have a user that uses a HP laserjet P1005 printer and it worked fine in Terminal Server for a week and then it will no longer print.

I tried to use the Net Use redirect but i couldn't find a printer driver that worked with it, so we went ahead and installed the driver on the server. It worked great for a week, and then it just stopped working. It pulls through into the printer list in the TS session fine.

He can print all he wants locally but when he logs into TS he submits the job and It just never prints.

His machine is XP and the TS is 2003.

Does anyone else use this printer, either directly on the network or through the terminal server? If so, are they able to print? If not, make sure the printer is actually online and connected to the network.

If you log directly into the local console of the terminal server, can you print to the printer from there? If not, try re-installing the printer driver on the server.

Just one user using it, locally attached to the machine via USB. I will try to submit a job to it from my admin account when he is online next.

They can print locally fine. Just not when he logs into TS.

The HP driver manual for the P1005 and P1500 printers says these are "host-based" devices, that render the print job on the host computer. That could be a problem with TS-based printing.

This Terminal Services printing guide says that host-based printers don't work well with TS.
