HP Laserjet 5L

I've a HP Laserjet 5L plugged to the pc. I recently formatted my pc. So the settings for the printer is different now. Last time, when I hit print, it would send the print job to the printer's memory. Now there's the print icon in the taskbar and it prints very slow. How do I correct this?

Anyone?

Thanks in advance!

Cheers.

Yeah sounds like it is spooling to the printer rather than sending it directly (holding bits of the document back and slowly sending it accross). Generally spooling is good for Inkjet printers with limited RAM but a laserjet has built in ram to do this so that you can carry on working without having to wait for it to finish printing!

I have the HP 6L and added an 8MB memory card to help with complex jobs. Make sure your bios is set the ECP/EPP, or bi-directional, if possible. Your Win 2K printer properties may have (Win XP does) a ports tab to where you can enable bi-directional printing, and disable printer spooling.
