I just bidded on a HP Laserjet 4 Plus on Ebay and won! The total came out to $78 including shipping. I have some of these printer at work and its awesome. Not sure the going rate on it. How did I do? 🙂

Shipping is probably at least $20 for something that heavy, so I'd say you got a pretty good deal.

Well, we bought our laserjet 4P for $1000.... WAAAAY back when. i don't know why either, my dad was smoking some crack or something.

is it worth it to you? i mean, you could always buy a nice injet printer for $100... but you don't have that rock solidness of them older HP laserjets 🙂 and you lose out on a little speed.

The inkjet printers I felt is a shame. You can get the printer for like $40, but the inks cost you big time in the long run. The shipping was $35 for the printer and I paid $43 for the printer.

Its an older printer, but they last for a long long time. Hopefully the toner is full and you won't have to worry about refilling it for a couple years.

Hm, bought my 4P at a yard sale a couple years ago for 5 bucks. Still working like a champ on it's orginal toner. Looks like you got fleeced!

I think you got a good deal. In comparison I paid $95 locally for a Laserjet 5N with toner cartridge, 90,000 page count, jet direct card. It has worked like a charm for the two months I have had it.

I believe this is a Laserjet 4+, not a Laserjet 4P. Big difference. The 4P is a personal printer, the 4+ is built for an office and is a workhorse.

Didn't realized there are so many kind of LJ 4. I got this
one from this auction.

I've got a laserjet 4 plus, but the damn thing has streaks down the page (never used to when i originally bought it)... maybe it's time to pick up a new toner, as I've already tried cleaning it many times.

If you come by our company dumpster, you can find a few of those stupid things laying in it. They weigh about 50 pounds and worked fairly well when they weren't jamming.

We found with ours that it required more than the default memory to work in Network mode (even with the Jet Direct card). Doing any troubleshooting, however, wasn't worth our time.

Just my experience with them.

Eric
