HP LaserJet 3

I have 2 HP laserJet 3s That were retire from my office with some funtional problems. I don't have the problem ID's infront of me but know that they were different. Both had verious new parts put into them including a new fuser. I would like to create one working machine. Is there any engineering documents out there that would help in this project?

I looked into resurrecting a LJIII a while back, I found several places that had exploded drawings of the whole printer and subassemblies, and some other info. Unfortunately, I can't remember where those sites are, but I found them all by searching from Goto.com for Laserjet reapirs and/or parts.

After finding out how expensive repair parts are, I decided it would be cheaper to get a whole new printer.

LaserJet III is a great printer. Those beasts were designed for major output in a corporate environment. I picked up a used on for $300 a couple of years ago to use in my home office environment. Some may call it overkill but it works great -- and we are almost finished with the first toner cartridge. (Wish I could say the same for ink cartridges in my 690C!)

At any rate, Hermann, it's probably cheaper to buy a used HPIII than it is to cannibalize and repair what you have.
