HP LaserJet 2200 problems

I'm having a problem with a LaserJet 2200. It is putting light smudges on the left side of each page it prints. If I look closely I notice that the smudges are a copy of certain areas of the page. I drew up a quick example.

I've tried 2 different toner cartridges and have cleaned and dusted out the inside of the printer the best that I could. What could be causing this?
The smudges are fairly light and not very big, but this printer is used by our administration department who requires very clean documents.

Any help would be appreciated.

It needs cleaning - most likely the fuser roller. Takes more than casual dusting and wiping. Also check the wiping pad that should be replaced with every cartridge change.

I'm going to try cleaning the fuser. And since I've tried 3 different toner cartridges, I'm doubting that it's the problem.

But, each toner cartridge change requires a change of the fuser roller cleaning pad. One comes with each cartridge. Sometimes you need a solven such as alchohol to clean caked toner off of the fuser.
