i got one for free because the guy said the paper feed doesnt work right. when i tested it it sucks in about all of the paper at once if you only put like 10 sheets in.. is this a common problem or an easy fix?

thanks.

HP have free Seperator Pad kits for the 1100, which fix this problem. I ordered a few from HP's website for the printers at work, and they were delivered within a week, and it fixed the problem 🙂

it seems that the paper feeder can't be detached...

only the copy feeder can be detached, but i am looking for paper feeder..

are u sure that is for the paper feeder, Confused?

It's a little cardboard "thing" which you shove in the paper feeder and "press", and it fixes the problem of pulling more than one piece of paper at once (well, it did on a few here at work). Unfortunately I can't find the thread here that I found out about it from, and we've used them all so no boxes anywhere at work...

I looked at HP's site, and they don't advertise these anymore. Apparently, you can contact a company by the name of TSA, who can sell you a separation pad kit for the LJ1100. Their phone number is 1-800-633-6626. I don't have any price info, but it'd be a place to start.

Good luck.

i found a kit on ebay for $4.99 but if i can get it from HP then i will do that.. its just a hassle and im cheap but ill order the part from ebay if nothing else and let you guys know who sold it to me and if it worked good or not.

thanks

Same here. Installed those on 2 of my printers at work and all is well. 🙂

This multifeed problem is due to Hp engineering it wrong. There was even a legal action against them and they had to offer some relief to this a while back. The parts wore out to quickly before its maintenance schedule. The pickup roller and sep pads are worn. I've made a fortune due to this. I have repaired so many of these. Other printers with this problem include, the LJ 5L/6L, LJ 3100. It mostly occurs in HP 1100's. In a previous post to this thread is a phone number from TSA. This is a great supplier of printer parts. I think they even have a special kit for this. If I remember the part number is : 1100KIT

The pickup roller is easy to replace, it doesn't require any disassembly. The separation pad and the sub sep pads require a lot of parts to be remove so be carefull if doing this yourself. If anyone need help they can contact me at wseyller@citcom.net

I can't to seem to find this on HP's web site. I need to by a bunch for my company. Is there any place that sells it cheaper than some guys want on ebay? Some guy is selling them for $0.99 but he's charging 6-7 shipping for EACH PAD!

That, or is there another simple way to fix it if I take the seperation pad/spring out of the printer? Such as get the pads and stick them in place of the old pads?
