HP laptop windows media player no video

My buddy asked me to look into this problem, and I figured someone on here could figure it out, or had it happen and knows what to do. He has an HP laptop, I'm not sure which one, as he's not here right now. It's last years model, but anyway, his windows media player won't display the video. It doesn't display the movie in winamp either, but quicktime works. I'm not sure if its a driver issue with his radeon mobile card or what. Any help would be great
