So I have a old spare HP laptop, an HP Pavillion dv6500 model, the dv6605us to be exact.
It originally 'broke' and refused to either get past the bios (just would stay on the same screen forever), or refuse to get past a blinking cursor after the bios, or would simply refuse to turn on whatsoever.
Did all the usual stuff, removed the battery, removed/changed the sticks of RAM, etc. No change at all.
So I decided to just go buy a new laptop. Fast forward a few months and I took it out to fiddle with it again, and it booted right up like nothing had happened. So I was using it for a while, then the next day the same issue.
So basically sometimes it works fine, other times its doesn't work at all. I'm thinking some sort of overheating or something weird with some part holding a charge (as it seems to work again usually if I leave it unplugged for a few hours without a battery).
I took it the casing apart and looked around and didn't see anything (not sure what I was looking for , but everything seemed normal).
 , but everything seemed normal).
Anyway, does anyone have any thoughts on what it could be? Any software tests I could do one the days it decides to be working? I'd like to be able to have this as a reliably working spare.
Thanks a lot
