I recently got this monitor, and its great except pretty horrible viewing angles. If you stand up, the whole screen just looks gray and pale green, like a really cheap LCD would do. Did I get a defective unit, or is this just the way it is?

BTW, I have an older Dell 1905fp, and its viewing angles are near perfect, and I get this new L2335 and you can't look from anywhere but right in front of the screen without any problems.

That is very Odd. That would be opposite of my experience.

I had the Dell 2405 with a PVA screen like your 1905. The viewing angles (among other things) were so bad I got rid of it. Even moving my head 2 inches would wash out dark tones.

I looked at a Viewsonic VP201s with an IPS screen like your HP 2335, and it essentially had perfect viewing angles, I would call it CRT like.

I believe most people concerned with viewing angle would agree with me that IPS screens are much better than PVA screens.

Unless the huge widescreen monitors all just suck for viewing angle.

that is exactly what I am getting. Can you recommend me a different brand of this same LCD panel that has great viewing angles?

If you had asked which Panel to get, I probably would have recomended the one you have. I certainly don't recommend the 24" samsung PVA panels. It was quite bad.

Maybe it is possible they switched to a PVA panel. I wonder if anyone know how to enter the service menu on this one to see what it reports for the panel type.

Here is typical IPS: Pretty good. This is what the L2335 should have.

Here is typical PVA/MVA: Pretty bad and what I saw with my Dell 2405.

I have the L2335 and my panel looks perfectly fine when viewing from the top down. The specs call for 170 degrees vertical and horizontal viewing angles.

I also have the L2335 and don't have the issue that you are discussing. Looks great from different angles. I think you got a defective unit.

How is this monitor -- for gaming/office use/movie watching -- anyway? I don't see much discussion of it in the forums. Read a couple of review but I'd ilke to see more AT'ers opinion.
