This old monitor gets dimmer every day, or I do...its a 1680x1050 LCD. Other than it seemingly getting darker it works fine. I have not been successful finding instructions to replace the back lights, maybe I'll just open it up and see what's what. Has anyone had one of these apart and replaced the bulb(s)?

Failing that I guess an inexpensive 1080p monitor is in my future. Any suggestions on a decent/cheap LED back lit 1080p monitor that can handle some gaming with my 7850? I do have 2 systems connected to it (one DVI and one VGA), and use the switch on the monitor to switch the video (I move a cable on a USB hub to move the keyboard and mouse).

Generally the back light are part of the lcd panel it self and not a seperate item so you would be looking at replacing the lcd panel

Oh I replaced the CFL in an old Dell monitor once, figured they were all like that.
