HP Ink Cartridges

I found a guy locally that is selling inkjet a couple of cartridges that I need for my printer. He only has a couple, so I'm pretty sure it is not a scam. They are HP and still reportedly still sealed, but might be a year or two old. My question is: Will they dry out in an unopened package?

Ink carts have a shelf-life - IDK what the cause of deterioration is other than the fact that hydrocarbons are used in the dyes (biochemicals) which naturally degrade and alcohols are used in the solvents which can eventually evaporate even in a sealed bag. I've gotten quick responses from tech support on my questions to HP. Those may have an expiration date on the sealed pouch and/or box that the cart is packed in.

In general with HP there is a date on the foil wrapper or on the box itself.
HP says they should work fine IF they are installed before the Date on
the Package .. also, as long as they are kept at a nominal storage temp
they should be fine. Most of them are good for 2 years from Date of Manufacture
So depending on how inexpensive you can get them & how soon you plan to
use them, they should be fine. I would not buy it if the date is passed by more
than a week or two

Evaporation will exist at a molecular level. A sealed bag would decrease the amount of evaporation. Also sealing tape on the print head is important to help keep the cartridge from drying out.
