A family member wanted me to fix their hp laptop (G60-445dx). the power button was missing and the battery was dead. They were using pens to push the power button on the board.

I ordered the bezel with the button, the button board, and a battery.

took it apart, cleaned it out, and installed everything. re-assembled and now the LCD doesn't come on. Get power to everything else.

Doesn't seem like the hard drive is doing much either. the light blnks a few times in the beginning and then that's it.

I think this is the last time I work on a laptop that's not mine.

Does the video to the screen use those micro ribbon slot insert thingies?

I suspect the if it uses a ribbon style then its become unhooked somehow.

Did you try fn+f4 to switch to external monitor?

I had a laptop where a defective battery caused a "no video" problem.

Found this "hard reset" suggestion:

Unplug the power cord.
Remove the battery and hold the power button for 60 seconds.
Re-connect the power and attempt a boot.
Shut down, put the battery back.

Yep, tried the screen switch buttons. It does have a new 3rd party battery but i thought i tried it without the battery in. I could try again without it and also with the old battery.
I also reseated battery and held shift f8 and power but no change. Also held power for 60 seconds with no battery or cord connected
