I recently acquired an HP G6-1A30US with a broken LCD screen. The backlight worked fine, but the screen was smashed. So I bought a brand new replacement screen and had it installed. Upon installation the new screen displayed a faint image, with no backlight.
So I reinstalled the old screen and now the backlight on the old screen does not work either.
I found some solutions online about discharged the power on the laptop, removing the battery and holding the power button down, however this did not work.
I'm wondering if the "sensor" or magnet which tells the laptop the lid is closed is stuck, making the laptop think the screen is now always closed. The issue does not seem to be the invertor or the screen itself but some function of the laptop. Please help with any information, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.
