Question HP F2240 Printer question please

Hi all, Was given a HP F2240 printer last year which I believed worked fine. I purchased the two new cartridges but before I open them I want to make sure the printer is operable, as if I don't open them, they are returnable.

When applying power all the lights on the control panel light up as if it's doing a self test or something. The problem is that it stays that way no matter what I do.

I don't have the printer connected to a computer or anything as I assume it can scan and print a copy on it's own.

Can anyone please suggest something?

Regards,

Dave...

Thank you, All hooked up to the computer and ran Deskjet F2200 Win10.exe and now I can print from the computer but can't scan a doc and store file in computer.
Tried downloading HP Support Assistant and recognize my computer and the printer. Trying to download HP Scan but will not install. Also the black print is way too dark, my other printers I could adjust this. Does this mean this printer will not work with Win 10. Read somewhere it might be too old. EBay are selling the 2240 so there must be some options available.

Seems Win 10 doesn't like my HP printer, none of the software runs.
Found NAPS2.exe that works perfectly and scans and creates a pdf file which I can work with.
The only problem I'm having with this printer is that I need to tone down the black, it's too dark.
I've read the manual and understand fully that I have to plug it in but doesn't cover this topic.
Any suggestion would be appreciated

Regards,

Dave

If there's not a screen on it with a menu to set darkness, then (and also) it should be settable in the software.

You might find an HP oriented forum and ask there about the software.
