HP Envy13 battery question

I was given an hp envy13 that was trashed (rootkit) by its previous owner. I loaded 7 enterprise on it from a usb stick and all is well BUTT!

There are two batteries. One (they call it a slice I think) big one that hangs on the bottom plus the normal battery. What happens is Windows gets confused on the battery power and when the built in one gets down to 8% (while the big one has 75% or so) the damn thing hibernates. That is rather inconvenient when trying to send an email or whatever! 😡

Am I missing something here? Is there a third party power management utility that can fix this?

Otherwise this is a pretty nice and compact computer. It reminds me of a mac (built like a tank) and it's heavy as hell. But it does work aside from having a mind of its own.
