Hey, well recently I just got a HP envy. I added a ssd drive to it. I was trying to reformat it using the hp recovery discs but the problem is that it loads it on the 5400 rpm not the ssd. I would like to switch it to the ssd. Is there anything I can do? I read that clonezilla might be good but I am not sure how to use it. Thanks.

You must have the 5400 drive in the original slot. Move it to the secondary drive bay and put your SSD where your 5400rpm was.

I tried to do that but it seems like that space only fits the one drive, the hp 5400. I cant seem to fit in the ssd without it bulging out. I am going to try to unpug the hp 5400 and then reformat it with only the ssd and ill tell you what happens. Thanks.

It seems like that doesnt work. It says there is no hd to boot off. I am thinking I have to swap the two by doing an image of one to the other, but never done that before and not sure. Does anyone know where I can find some help on that?

Okay I added the drive to the primary and tried to install the hp recovery disk and got a failure. I am not sure what is going on. I am testing my hardware but so far it seems like everything is fine. The failure I am talking about is that when I tried to install it it failed to launch and garbage came up on the screen XLKJDFLKJLJfkjsdf8**F78DSflj like that and it made a sound. Tell me what you think.

I had to use the hp recovery discs a couple times before it installed correctly. I have a envy and added a ssd too. Try the discs again or if all else fails you could try a clean install but it does come loaded with some pretty neat software from HP.

I just did a fresh install and it works fine now. I got most of the apps to work but still trying to get how the camera will work because the hp software doesnt work and fails when I try to load it. Did you just do a fresh install with a windows disk. I tried to install the hp software but it fails on installation for the camera. Not sure whats going on, or how to get it work.
