hp dvd200i internal to firewire?

i got this dvd+rw drive that i thought would be nice if i can get it into a firewire external enclosure... just wondering... does anyone know if this will work for mac os x and those powerbooks/ibooks

It should. I use a Panasonic LF-D311 (DVD-R/-RAM) in a Firewire case. Works fine with Toast, etc. I'll be swapping for an LF-D521 (CD-RW, DVD-RAM/-R/-RW) for it today.

I'm not sure if the Apple apps like iTunes and the Finder works with the 200i, since Apple prefers the - formats. However, I know Roxio Toast supports the 200i.

when you said roxio toast works for 200i, you're saying that the drive actually works for the desktop G4s right?

Not sure what you're asking. I'm using the Panasonic drive in Toast with my PowerBook G4 Titanium, via Firewire.

I've never used a +RW drive with Toast, but I've been told on the Mac forums that the 200i specifically works fine.
