Hey guys,

I've been playing around with an old laptop--trying to figure out why it broke down. It used to work perfectly, and the one day, it just didn't. Sigh.

Anyway. So, I have the laptop, no charging indicator light when plugged into AC power (with a power bar that has been tested).

At first when it is plugged in, the charging indicator light turns on for about 3 seconds, and then turns off. Following this, the battery light blinks (the lightening one) in the following fashion: 5 blinks, and then the sixth one is sustained for a second before it finally rests in an off state.

No fans, no signal that anything else "turns on". No capslock.

After a few minutes, the battery light starts to blink (and has been doing that for the past hour).

Any insight into this would be awesome

The HP and gateways the same unit? If so I just watched this the other day may or may not be helpful to you. The DV series were famous for dyeing out over time, that said could be anything. Have you tried removing the battery holding the power button for several minutes, then plug in the wall charger?

This video starts at 24 minutes in(save you time), I would put to much money into it.
