Yall think this is decent laptop for surfing the net? I will not be gaming on this laptop so are the specs overkill?

For normal surfing, email, word processing, home accounting, etc., it is a very adequate system. What was the cost? (That ultimately determines the value.)

Have you ordered it? I was considering the same series and went to BB to have a look. Overall its a nice system but the trackpad killed it. It is a chromish thing that my finger stuck to. It didn't glide at all, I would consider this a must try before by. The other system I was looking at, the Asus G50V, of course was dead as was several other systems there. Just a display of blue screens of death, reboot, repeat. It was rather sad and not exactly a vote of confidence for the geek squad.

if you just want web browsing why not check through hot deals and find something for half the price?

anything bought in the past 5 years would be good enough for surfing the internet

you can find some real cheap ones for 399 at places like office depot etc
