HP DV5T ProtectSmart Feature

I'm looking to buy a HP DV5T laptop and was looking to upgrade the hard drive. I talked to both a CSR and a technical rep at HP regarding the ProtectSmart feature. Both said that it would be unavailable for non-HP hard drives. This doesn't make sense to me - based on what I know about the feature (it parks the hard drive head when it senses that it is being dropped) it is really built into the motherboard. Where would one buy a "ProtectSmart" hard drive anyway? Can anyone confirm or deny?

Thanks!
