Hp dv5 1183cl system recovery

Trying to use the recovery partition on the hdd. Some one has installed a pirated copy of win 7 and I want to restore the original system. How can I access the partition?

Chances are, whoever installed the illegal copy of Win 7, probably deleted that partition.

If it is still there, most laptops have a key command to activate it on boot - e.g., Lenovo uses F11.

Did you buy this new or used? You may have to contact HP and buy the recovery CD from them.

The partition is still there. HP site says something about not being able to access partition without third party software once changing to windows 7. I also downloaded a patch for win7 that is supposed to fix the problem. I installed it but still cannot access the partition.
