hey all i have a HP DSC 1610 all-in-one, which apart from being a bit of a pain to install has worked fine for about 18 months - and now its out of its 12 monthe warranty it decides to play up :(

the problem:

when attempting to print a single piece of paper is taken 1/2 way through the machine, does not start printing any text on the paper, but decides there is a jam.

i then do the standard paper jam procedure and resume printing - the exact same error occurs...

the rollers are clean, i cant see anything in the way that should not be there, and there is no visable reason why the machine thinks it is jammed.

i have been through tech support doing the 'Power Cycle' and 'Factory Reset' these did not resolve the issue! the conclusion with tech support was - 'it appears to be hardwear orientated issue, we cant do anything from here'

Basically i am wondering if this is a known fault, if any1 has any experience with this issue and if i have a chance of fixing it?

thanks a lot for any help u may have guys n girls

Is this actually the PSC 1610? A "P" instead of a "D"?

Some user comments from various places concerning the PSC:
" by jazztpt99, Jan 26, 2007

Pros: Quality of print and scan

Cons: PAPER JAMS CONSTANTLY! TERRIBLE DESIGN, WOULD NOT BUY AGAIN"

"by thare33, Nov 12, 2006

Pros: nice price and feature set

Cons: paper feed problems make it unusable"

" Constant paper feed problems, February 6, 2007
Reviewer: Ikonix (West Coast) - See all my reviews
Within a few months of purchase, I began to have paper feed problems--even using HP All-In-One 22lb. paper. HP tech support was no help, sending me a bunch of silly, newbie-type suggestions via e-mail. In desperation, I cleaned the rollers that I could get at, which solved the problem for a month or so. And this has been the routine ever since. I am sick of having to do this so often. I am giving up on this machine."

and on and on.
Bad product. Bad support.

Yeah i too have seen similar type reviews from various sites.

However, in my situation its not an actual jam in the sense the printer does not start printing, and then get jammed - it just processes the paper 1/2way - past the point when it should have started printing, then decides its going to stop rollers and shouts 'Paper Jam' at me.

The speed at which an online tech support guys said 'its a hardwear issue' just made me wonder if its a known issue that mayb HP are hiding!
