To have any chance of getting a helpful response you need to post your FULL specs, OS, new or old build, any new components or software installed just before problem started. Also state which BIOS revision.

Please confirm what you have tried to so far to remedy your problem.

Thanks

Not really. It could be anything. Did you consider that if a keyboard doesn't work then there is a possibility the keyboard has a fault?

Boo Boo: Need those specs and stuff I asked for earlier otherwise you'll definitely only get wild guesses.

Sounds like it's the hard drive that's going bad. Computer locking up, or taking an extremely long time, during the ide auto-detect process. Unplug all ide cables from the motherboard, turn the computer on, and see if you can then access the cmos setup. If you can access the setup, then it's either the hard drive or cdrom that's bad. If not (and let's hope this is the case), then try to get a hold of different memory sticks to test.
