HP deskjet 960c not printing from black cartriges only.

Prints fine from color cartrige. I have tried two cartriges and reinstalled drivers. Anybody got any ideas?

Clean the gold contacts on the cartridge carrier. Use a lint free swab and rubbing alcohol. Sometimes ink builds up on them, also look to see if any are damaged or missing. Also are you removing the tape from the cartridge? Sometime catridges go bad, especially if they have been sitting in the supply closet for 3 years.

THX Chucko, yeah, I've done that stuff. I am planning on trying one more cartridge before I hang it up. I really think it is the cartriges being bad, as you have mentioned.

The failure rate for NON-EXPIRED HP ink catridges is less than 1 percent. Most of the time catridges only go bad if they sit in a drawer or on the retail shelf too long. Glad to see you got it working.
