Working at Office Depot has its benefits.... :D

I discovered these are discontinued and have been marked down to $149.88....no rebates or nothing. I know that HP has a whole bunch of rebates going on now, but I'm not sure if it will apply to this printer. If it does, it will be about $50, which equals $99.88 for a once $300-$400 printer!

E-mail me with any questions or anything.

HP doesn't list any rebates on the 895c on their 'rebates and promotions' page of their site, yet.

I'd say go for it, the entire 800 series is pretty good. I have an 855 that's been chugging along for 5 years and it still works great. Aside from their 600 and 2000 series, any hp printer is a great buy.

Well, this particular one isn't. But as far as I can tell, they'll take a basic design, give it a new hundreds number, and then make these fun little "Frankenstein" designs where they tweak little bits here and there. If it works, they'll make production versions in the range of that set of 100. So while the series is pretty old, these particular printers aren't necessarily bad. They should be reasonably fast and not break on ya for a pretty long time.

I was wondering because they seem to have the same price. I have the 930C and it is quite OK. The sad thing about it is, that it does not allow two PC's to use it's two (parallell and USB) ports concurrently.
A design flaw in my mind.

I think it was meant to use one or the other, not both. It'd be nice if they enabled it, but . . . eh, no biggie, hubs aren't too expensive. :)

One of the good things about this printer is that it uses the 40ml black ink cartridge. Lasts twice as long as the little 20ml cartridges they are using in the new printers. Also it does a nice job on photos.

$149.00 is a good price.

I've had my 895 for two years with zero problems and the print quality is excellent. Does photos really well.

I have an 855C, and it's a workhorse. I bought it for $499 from Incredible Universe 5 years ago.

But then again, I also bought one of the new Lexmark printers, the Lexmark Z42. I have been with HP printers for about 10 years now, and I must say that this Lexmark Z42 rivals my Deskjet 932C. It has better print quality, just as fast if not faster, accurately feeds in paper, and is MUCH less expensive. Don't even bother with the dumpy low-end Lexmarks, they are garbage compared to the low-end HPs, but hey, I PM'd www.compusa.com's price of $129 with Staples, and then used the 25 off 100 coupon, you can't beat the price. Makes sense considering HP spends like $42million in marketing or something.

Now for the durability or service of Lexmark, it looks to be built ok (the Lexmark), but I have only had it for a week now, so I really can't say. Definately a printer check out...

Oh yeah, and the reason I decided to buy this printer for my girlfriend:

Actually, now that I think about it, I didn't pricematch it with Compusa, both places have it for $129.99, I just used the 25 off 100 coupon, and they already had free shipping, so my total came out to $111.29 delivered.

I have a DeskJet 890C that was given to me.......now that sucker is a workhorse.

One difference between the 895C and the 900 series is the dpi in color - 1200 (895) vs. 2400 (900s) - called PhotoRE II and PhotoRE III by HP. I printed out a demo on the 895 and on the 932 that we have in my store, and it actually looked more realistic on the 932. I was impressed.

Isn't this model rather old though? For a few bucks more, there are so many newer models to pick from. Now if you know of a good clearanced Laser printer.... that would be cool.

Check out Staples for the Epson 980, I think there is a rebate on it.

Whatever you do, DO NOT buy the antique that OD is trying to dump here. It's only worth $10.00, and that's stretching it.

Now I'm not as active in these forums as some of you, but I think what you were doing Seattle is thread-crapping. I was just informing people of the deals that we have that I happen to see since I work there. I respect your opinion, but as one of my friends say, "If you can't say anything nice, don't talk at all is my advice."

As far as the Epsons go, I always hated them because they were so loud, but the 880 is actually pretty quiet, which I like. I haven't seen the 9xx in a while.

As far as laser printer deals go, we have the HP Color LaserJet 4500 for $1499.88 ($1000 off!!!) and the HP LaserJet 8100 for....I think $2500 but I'm not sure.

jaggrey,
thanks for the heads up . . . yeah the printer deal is not for everyone . . . there are opinions everywhere.
i just wanted to thank you for your information. you are an asset. i think seattle would agree that having someone that works at OD is a + in getting the information here fast. don't take it personal, seattle is an epson fan . . .

we all have opinions. keep up the hot deals. anything else new discontinued at OD?

Awhile back I posted the Voodoo 4 4500 for $89.88, and the Voodoo 3 3000 & 2000 for $79.88
