On buy.com, the HP Deskjet 840C is red-tagged for only $105 which is $25 below the cheapest price on Pricewatch. In addition, if you use your $10 off coupon, the price will of course drop to $95 plus shipping. I feel this is a good deal (even though it's an HP), so I'm posting it. It's my first post so be gentle.

Thanks,
Jon

I think HP deskjets are among the best deskjets out there, what do you mean by "even though it's an HP" ?

Oops, sorry 2hear about your 3 broken HP's.

Good find!

Now, all we need is some reviews from personal experiences.

If anyone has had this, how is it? Is it good for heavy color and photo like documents.

Thanks!

I mean exactly what is posted above, that I have 3 HP Deskjets that are broken, stashed away in a box in my closet. I thought they were good too, which is why I have given them three chances, until I bought an Epson. However, they were great printers while they lasted (about two years), so I think I might just buy the extended warranty along with this deal. Does anyone else have any ideas of what to do with my old printers?

Done,
Jon (thinking about giving HP a fourth chance)

3 broken HP's? Hmmm....I've always used HP's...at work we use HPs big and small. Completely reliable with mininum maitenence.

Are you like buying used HP's from garage sales? or refurb'ed units? Never heard of so many units failing.... Oh well..."stuff" happens.

i bought the 840c with the e-stamp rebate offer a while back... it's been great for me, although i don't use it heavily or use color that often. black and white printouts are clear and crisp. works great with envelopes too (had to use all that free postage!). btw, this is the same printer as 842c, just different software packages. not sure exactly what differences though...

hope that helps (this is a good price for it)

Be advised that these HP 840 series printers use ink cartrages that are half full and cost about $5 more retail than if you were to go with something like the 882 or 932.

I have a 932 and 970Cse- Both are very nice printers. They just keep making them faster and it's hard to keep up. The 970 is very nice, with 2 sided printing and lots of other cool features, but it's pretty expensive.

I have had a Deskjet 520, 630 (or 670?) and these 2 and they have all worked great.

I only used it for e bay (why can't i use the real word?) things, so mostly priority mail, and bigger first class mail (~$2). I figured printing .33 stamps might be wasting money, since ink is so expensive.

Actually, I hate e-stamp, the software is slow and poorly written, I just need to get rid of the free postage. Stamps.com is a lot better in my opinion.
