I was wondering if anyone would be able to discern who manufactures HP/Compaqs line of fx5950s and 9800pros? i could not find anything on their support site but i am led to believe it is most likely Asus..if anyone knows it would be much appreciated

I have an HP A350E. Well when I upgraded to a MSI 5700, my old 5200 had the words ASUS stamped on the PCB so that should answer your question. Best to ensure compatibility with the ASUS motherboard.

it does matter craigrt since our company might need to purchase compaq workstations and it just makes sense to know who manufactures the parts ( i already know the hd can be from several manufactures, motherboard from asus or intel, drives dont matter, memory is 95% crucial and the list goes on) thanks for the help all

If you post a picture of the 9800pro i could tell you what manufacturer its made by.

(I am almost ashamed to admit this)

Still not sure why you need this information? We buy our workstations from Dell and they said it comes with a FireGL card. I could care less if it's made by MSI, ASUS, ECS, etc. As long as it works when I get here I'm happy. My warranty is with Dell, not with each individual manufacturer.

yeah but im concerned because i dont want a card made by lucky dragon star (just a made up name for example since hp/compaq are sometimes know to subcontract to the lowest bidder) i dont mean to be picky but dont you think its prudent to know what you are buying?

For work I buy PC, laptops, and workstations from Dell because I trust them to make the decisions about what quality components to put in their machines. I purposely buy from them so I don't have to worry about who makes the components in the machine. If you don't trust them to make those decisions why are you buying from them?
