HP Compaq cover repair

I have a laptop that has a large blemish on the top cover that's unattractive; about the size of a nickel/quarter (acrylic finish is gone). I would like to repair it. I contacted a seller of the Novus Plastic Polish Kit - 8 Oz Bottles and was told that it's for basic scratches; that it doesn't do miracles :colbert:. I then did a little research via Google and came up with an epoxy that can be sanded and then painted to match the cover. If an epoxy is the best option should it be acrylic etc.?

Does anyone have any suggestions? The cover is a shiny black acrylic. Thanks!
