Good options:
AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 2.00 GHz: +$75.00

So basically, if you stick to Athlon 64 3000+, Compaq is better since it comes with DVD-ROM whereas HP comes with CD-ROM Drive. But if you choose Athlon 64 3200+, they are the same price with DVD-ROM. The MUST option is 15.4" widescreen.
The only difference is the look and audio.
HP Pavilion has Herman/Kardon speaker.

Compaq has a more shiny look

THEY ARE NOT THE LINK FOR THE PRODUCTS THAT EXPLAINED ABOVE. Just the same model line figures for your reference. They both have 3 USB 2.0 and 1 Firewire port. Also, 5-in-1 card reader, but not sure about HP Pavilion (looks like it does have it).
As usual, I can't tell 10% off coupon, but it is all over the internet.
The only shame is the HDD and the graphic card. 40GB 4200RPM and GeForce 4 440 Go?? They gotta be kidding me.
If you put fast HDD and more RAM, it could be a killer notebook.
