My brother picked this (HP Color LaserJet 1500L) up for $6.99 at a thrift store. After cleaning some of the yellow toner that was all over the place (it covered an optical sensor), it worked! My brother quickly purchased a new black cartridge for $85 and started printing.
Unfortunately, the color images have bad vertical streaking. I purchased cleaning sheets but they did not affect it. I purchased glossy color laser paper and got the same results. Before I spend any more money on this thing, I MUST obtain the software CD.
Unfortunately, HP decided to remove all calibration, cleaning, etc options from the driver and only include these standard functions in the HP Toolbox software. The HP Toolbox software is being held hostage by HP, who demands over $10 to ship a replacement CD. I refuse to do this. Any company that does this should be boycotted. How can HP be taken seriously by the types of businesses the use color laser printers?
A little help?
